You can draw boundaries of areas such as fields or lines such as hedges or fences for fields, features and notes by recording your location as you walk or drive around them.

For a field

  1. Start creating a field following the instructions here
  2. When you get to the stage of drawing your field you will see a button at the bottom of the screen called ‘Draw by Walking/Driving’, tap this to start.
  3. To begin drawing your shape tap the ‘Record’ button. This will start recording your location using your phone’s GPS so that as you move a line or area is drawn. You can leave this running in the background - you don’t have to keep the screen on your phone on and you can do other things.
  4. When you’re finished tap ‘Stop’.
  5. If you’re happy with your shape tap ‘Create’ in the top right hand corner to save your field.


For a feature

  1. Create a feature as usual, making sure that you select ‘Line’ or ‘Area’ as the shape.
  2. On the drawing screen you will see a button called ‘Draw by Walking/Driving’, tap this to start.
  3. To begin drawing your shape tap the ‘Record’ button. This will start recording your location using your phone’s GPS so that as you move a line or area is drawn. You can leave this running in the background - you don’t have to keep the screen on your phone on and you can do other things.
  4. When you’re finished tap ‘Stop’.
  5. If you’re happy with your shape tap ‘Create’ in the top right hand corner to save your feature.

For a note

  1. Open the note that you want to add a shape to (You can use an existing note or create a new one), tap on the ‘+’ button next to the comment bar and select ‘Add shapes’.
  2. On the following screen make sure you select ‘Line’ or ‘Area’. You will then be see a button that says ‘Draw by Walking/Driving’.
  3. Tap this and follow instructions 3-5 above.
