How to use Farm Costs

Use Farm Costs to, track the totals spent on inputs, breakdown spending by input type and record outputs sale price and income

Farm Costs is a PLUS and PRO feature and is available on web only.

Select a currency

  • You can change currency in Farm settings. Access this by the cog key top right of the screen.

How to add costs to inputs

  • Select "REPORTING" on the side bar

  • Open "INPUT SUMMARY"

  • Tap "EDIT COSTS"

  • Here you can add the unit cost or the total cost of the input from your farm.

  • When you make changes it will update reporting throughout the years.

  • Tap save.

If you add a unit cost fieldmargin will work out the total cost of the inputs you have added. If you add total cost fieldmargin will show you the unit cost.

  • You can choose to view "All Jobs, Incomplete jobs, Completed jobs"

  • You can export the information as a .csv

Adding prices to Outputs

  • Select "REPORTING" on the side bar and open "YIELD REPORT"

  • Tap "SET OUTPUT PRICES"

  • Set the output price for the year

  • Now you can view the income/Ha and total income for each field and crop type

How to view an input report

This will show you a breakdown of the quantity of an input used per field and field-usage.

  • Select "REPORTING" on the side bar

  • Open "INPUT REPORT"

Here you can view a report chart of inputs per field and by type

  • You can choose to view "All Jobs, Incomplete jobs, Completed jobs"

  • You can export the information as a .csv

You can also filter individual inputs:

  • Select individual or selected inputs using the "Inputs filter"

How to view an input cost breakdown

This shows spending for the farm year per field by input type. Use this to see where you may be able to reduce spending and benchmark you spend against other farmers.

  • Select "REPORTING" on the side bar

  • Open "INPUT REPORT"

Here you will see a bar chart of fields. The type of input is show as different colours for Seed, Spray, Fertiliser and other.

  • You can choose to view "All Jobs, Incomplete jobs, Completed jobs"

  • Select the chart icon top right to view data as a chart.

How to view a yield report

Here you can view total and per ha yields by field and output with sale price and income.

  • Select "REPORTING" on the side bar

  • Open "Yield Report"

  • You can choose to view "All Jobs, Incomplete jobs, Completed jobs"

  • Select the chart icon top right to view data as a chart.

Gross Margins

Your input and yield data and costs come together to produce gross margins per field and usage. You can read more about using Gross Margins here.
